Custom Work / Refinishing

Thanks for coming this far.  I want to share some information, in hopes of saving us both time in the early stages of the customization process.

What do I do?  

I work almost exclusively on Scotty Cameron putters.  It's what I know.  That said, if it's steel, it's probably something I can do!  

I do refinish jobs for customers, and in my spare time, finish, build and sell my own custom putters on several platforms. Some of which you may have seen!

Send me one to ten putters at a time!  I can choose finishes as I go, a variety pack!  Or you can tell me what you want.   Most commonly, it’s a combination of the two.  Reference something you've seen (of mine).  Or tell me you’re thinking “black and red” – or something like this – I make that into a reality, using my experience and creativity.  I do not use order forms; I like to have some human interaction.  But this short read should help us both keep that part efficient! 

I remove surface dings and dents from NORMAL use, and that's included in the service I provide, within reason – I paint fill putters (hundreds of color options) – and finally, I build awesome putters. 

What do I not do?

I do not have a laser.  I can’t do a laser design like the putter you keep seeing from Embrace.  I do not currently offer PVD / DLC finishes – AS I DO EVERYTHING MYSELF.  This keeps turnaround time down, and keeps my liability low, as I am not shipping your putter anywhere but back to you when it’s finished.    

Finishes:  

Satin (stock Scotty Cameron – glass bead blasting) and polishing are ways to present raw stainless steel.  They don’t wear, as nothing is applied or on the surface of the steel.  These finishes can look amazing, clean, and simple.  While doing so for a long time.

Torching / Oil Can -  I do tons of these and would consider myself one of the best at doing it by hand.  I’m self-taught.  Steel can take some amazing colors via heat, when properly prepped and applied.  These finishes are not known for their durability.  But they are gorgeous, and easily repeatable. 

Surface preparation greatly affects the finished look.  If you see an example of my work that you want yours to look like, that’s awesome!  Share that with me. 

Cerakote -  Cerakote is a spray-and-bake polymer finish.  This stuff is super tough, and available in nearly any color.  Making it a common choice for putters.  I can overlap colors for a fade / splatter pattern.  Stenciling images is possible also, I haven’t gotten into this, and may not.  I prefer to make putters I could see myself using, clean and crisp.  Ask about current color options. 

Shafts and Grips – I offer a range of options, KBS, BGT, LAGP, and generic colored steel shafts that are super high quality.  I use black commonly.

Grips – I try to keep a decent selection of gripmaster (leather, great colors), Iomic (cheaper side rubber options, great colors)

I have tons of scotty grips around, but I don’t commonly sell or offer them.  They’re expensive and can’t really be stocked due to exclusivity.  If you want one, just ask, I may have it and will likely charge low side of current market value.  If I have it. OR you can feel free to send your own Scotty Cameron grips along with your putter, I’ll install it for free. 

Headcovers – I don’t really deal in headcovers.  If you need one, just ask!  It’s not something I normally do. 

WHAT DOES IT COST ?

I usually charge $125 to $175 per putter HEAD.  Depending on how much work the job will be for me.  Plan on $150, if something needs to change, I’ll let you know! 

I do reserve the right to refuse a job if I can’t do it.  I also might charge you a couple additional dollars for a ridiculous ding/dent excursion.  I try to keep pricing simple and easy to understand. 

SHAFTS : Black steel shafts are roughly $50 per (or any other color, if needed!)

Graphite options (KBS in stock, others usually I need to order) will range from $90 – 200+ depending.  I usually very fair with this, it just depends what I can get them for. 

GRIPS :  Plan on paying retail, I’ll do better if I can! 

Gripmaster options range $35-50 each – quality is superb.  As are size and color options. This is my main go-to grip option, I use them daily.   
Iomic is usally $20-30. 
Superstroke I will charge retail based on model.  Some I have, others I can get! 

** Stock shafts and grips can usually be replaced/reused. If you want to go this route, just ask, this would be the plan unless otherwise discussed! 

**I do not currently have a mill.  If the face is that bad, I can send it somewhere to be milled, which costs me about $60.  I would pass that on to the customer. 

** If you are simply a better fit for somebody else, I’ll tell you where to go!
